ABOUT THE AUTHORMarise La Grenade-Lashley was born in St. George’s, Grenada in 1959. After obtaining her secondary education from St. Joseph’s Convent and the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, Marise continued her studies in Canada and was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1982. In 1984, she earned a Master’s degree in Economics from Howard University in Washington, DC and in 1986, a second Master’s degree in Translation from the École de traduction et d’interprétation (ETI), Université de Genève in Switzerland.
Marise’s passion for words and language led her to devote more than 25 years to the translating profession in Washington, DC, working from French, Spanish and Portuguese to English. She started her career at the United States Department of State as a staff translator and later joined the World Bank, where she headed the English Translation Team for over 10 years. Over the years, Marise has maintained strong ties with her native Grenada, where she now spends most of her time. |
